Lori oversees the title side of the business. Once the title research is complete, her task is to examine the search results and organize the information so that our product, a title commitment or title certificate, can be produced. Lori has over 20 years of experience in the title industry; initially as a typist and then learning research skills, clearing title for commercial transactions, working with underwriting, and many general aspects of the business – all of which contribute to her current role.
Director of Research
The Research Department is responsible for searching the history of your property (known in the industry as the chain of title). Hendrich Title Company’s in-house title plant has complete, comprehensive records which begin with the original land grants from the United States of America at the time Vigo County was created in 1816. In addition to recorded documents, the Research Department makes use of various court proceedings as applicable (estates, guardianships, real estate partitions, etc.) to assist with providing a complete chain of title. This requires great attention to detail in order to identify possible defects in the chain. Erica has honed this skill over her 25 years at Hendrich; in addition, she is continually looking for new ways to supplement her informational resources in order to be proficient at producing the cleanest chain of title possible!
Alta Best Practices
We adhere to American Land Title Association (ALTA) Best Practices, a complex set of requirements that many lenders require. You may rest assured we will meet all applicable laws and regulations in our closing process.
