Erica McWilliams

Erica McWilliams

Director of Research

The Research Department is responsible for searching the history of your property (known in the industry as the chain of title). Hendrich Title Company’s in-house title plant has complete, comprehensive records which begin with the original land grants from the United States of America at the time Vigo County was created in 1816. In addition to recorded documents, the Research Department makes use of various court proceedings as applicable (estates, guardianships, real estate partitions, etc.) to assist with providing a complete chain of title. This requires great attention to detail in order to identify possible defects in the chain. Erica has honed this skill over her 25 years at Hendrich; in addition, she is continually looking for new ways to supplement her informational resources in order to be proficient at producing the cleanest chain of title possible!
